The Benue State Ministry of Finance has commenced the payment of bailout funds with the Benue State University.
Commissioner of Finance, Mr David Olofu, said the mandate for salary arrears of March and April, 2015 was released to the institution today and that other Ministries, Departments and Agencies whose staff have undergone the screening exercise will also start to recieve theirs tomorrow.
Mr Olofu stated that about N885 million has been released to cover the two months’ arrears of staff of the Benue State University, its College of Health Sciences and Teaching Hospital.
Bursar of the University, Dr Ephraim Aondoakaa Kwaghfan, acknowledged receipt of the mandate and said the cash would hit the bank accounts of staff by Thursday, this week.
State Deputy Governor and Bailout Committee Chairman, Engr Benson Abounu assured that he was personally supervising the screening exercise to ensure that it was quickly done in order to enable workers to get paid as soon as possible.
He expressed appreciation for their patience and cooperation.
