The Benue State Executive Council has approved the completion of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, EDC, in Makurdi.
It gave approval at its second meeting in 2016 which was presided over by Governor Samuel Ortom.
The council approved that the contractor who handled the project, Messrs Design Stages Limited, should be paid the outstanding balance on the valuation certificate to facilitate the completion of the work.
The meeting directed the management of Benue State University to dialogue with non academic unions at the institution to suspend their strike over arrears of earned allowances as the state government was studying a report on the matter.
The council considered the strike as uncalled for in the face of the current economic realities.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Julius Ashiko, and Registrar of the University, Dr Timothy Utile, had been invited to brief the council on the strike.
A committee to work out the modalities for the establishment of the Benue State Geographic Information System, BENGIS, was set up and given one week within which to submit a report.
The council also received a report from the committee on the recovery of vehicles from former public officers.
According to the report twelve of such vehicles have so far been recovered.
