The Benue State Executive Council yesterday hosted the Proprietor of Vaatia College, Mr. Michael Vaatia, the parents and Master Samuel Sesugh Nder who emerged the best West African Examination Council, WAEC, and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, SSCE in 2014.
Master Sesugh Nder scored straight A1’s in all the subjects in the May-June WAEC-SSCE.
The result was the best nationwide when the analysis were compiled.
Chairman of the council, Governor Samuel Ortom, thanked God for the life of the student, the parents and the school for the brilliant performance and urged other youths in the state to emulate him.
The meeting directed the sensitization of people living along the riverine and flood-prone areas to vacate those places in anticipation of flooding between now and end of September, 2016.
It directed the commissioner of Agriculture to ensure adequate supply of fertilizer to farmers and sensitization on new brands in the market to avoid complaints about its genuineness and monitor to get feedback.
He was also directed to set in motion the machinery for the recovery of all Central Bank of Nigeria assistance guaranteed by the state which were given to farmers so as to liquidate the loans in order to enable the state access new loans from the bank.
The council set up a committee comprising experienced technocrats to coordinate a staff audit exercise to by carried by Ministries, Departments and agencies in the state.
The committee will soon be inaugurated.
Council considered and approved the request by the former Managing Director of the Benue Property and Investment Company, BPIC, Mrs Brigid Sheidu, to reconsider her case and set aside her indictment by the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime Commission of Inquiry.
