
The Benue State Executive Council today set up an eight member committee to work out modalities of fast tracking the payment of the balance still in the account of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to beneficiaries.
Governor Samuel Ortom who presided over the meeting announced the Special Adviser on Labour and Employment, Patricia Kupchi, would chair the committee.
He stated that her colleagues in Special Duties, Joe Kyaagba; Politics, Sarwuan Tarnongu; Rural Development and Cooperatives, Tsenongo Abancha; Research and Statistics, Adzer Abya; Development Cooperation, Sustainable Development Goals, and New Partnership for Africa’s Development, Dr Magdalyne Dura; as well as Economic Development, Dr Bem Melladu would be members.
The council directed the committee to liaise with Directors General Services and Administration, Treasurers, and Education Secretaries in the 23 local government areas to collate names of those who have not been paid and others who have complaints for immediate action.
The committee was also directed to work with the standing bailout committee and the Information and Communication Technology, ICT, center at the Bureau in the discharge of its assignment.
The council charged the members to evolve strategies that would ensure that all beneficiaries get paid as soon as possible and that the payment exercise was concluded quickly.
