Governor Samuel Ortom was today installed as Grand Patron of the Boys Brigade Nigeria, Benue State Council.
The event took place at the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida Square, Makurdi.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ortom promised to support anything that would encourage young people to be of good behavior, stressing that such would be beneficial to the society.
The Governor said growing up as a primary school pupil, he admired the Boys Brigade especially due to the attires worn by officers, stressing that his installation as the grand patron was a dream come true.
He urged members of the organization to live exemplary lives so that the founder would be happy wherever he might be.
National chairman, council of patrons Boys Brigade Nigeria, Senator Barnabas Gemade, stated that the Christian body is reputed to have impacted positively on youths more than any other youth association in the country.
Senator Gemade reminded all Boys Brigade members that they had a greater role to play in moving the body forward not necessarily waiting till they occupy a position of responsibility, adding that the patrons would assist be handy to assist at all times.
The state president of Boys Brigade Nigeria, Mr. David Umah had, in a remark, congratulated the governor on his installation and solicited support from government and spirited individuals and organizations to enable the body achieve her heart desires.
The ceremony witnessed several match past and salutes for the new grand patron, Governor Samuel Ortom while a certificate of investiture, national, brigade and anniversary flags were presented to him after his decoration.
Governor Ortom had upon arrival, inspected a guard of honour mounted for him at the gate of IBB Square before proceeding for the event.
