The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, and his running mate, Engr Benson Abounu, have charged Nigerians to complete the circle of electoral victory started by voters in the country by voting massively for the APC in the April 11 governorship and state assembly elections.
They gave the charge while reacting to the victory of the Presidential candidate of the party, General Muhammadu Buhari, in last Saturday’s polls.
By his victory Nigerians have stated clearly that they want an end to insecurity, corruption, and underdevelopment, Chief Dr Ortom and Engr Abounu stated, noting however, that the desired change of the entire system for the better can only be achieved if Nigerians proceed to vote out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the state level on April 11th, 2015.
They described General Buhari as a patriotic, honest, sincere, modest, and zealous crusader for a better Nigeria stressing that with the support of stakeholders he would justify the confidence reposed in him and discharge his mandate successfully and creditably.
They expressed appreciation to God for giving the nation an opportunity to chart a new course and also commended the doggedness of voters to effect change in the leadership of the country.
Chief Dr Ortom and Engr Abounu thanked all the leaders who made sacrifices for the formation of the APC, its leaders at various levels as well as supporters who provided the structure that has made change possible.
They applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for what they described as his exhibition of the spirit of sportsmanship by promptly congratulating General Buhari and appealed to others to emulate the gesture.
The standard bearers also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for conducting elections which they considered largely free and transparent.
A statement signed by Mr Tahav Agerzua, Media Director, Ortom/Abounu Governorship Campaign Organization quoted the governorship candidate and his running mate as stating that having lost power at the center the PDP would become more desperate to win at the states at all cost hence the need for the electorate to redouble efforts to also effect change at the state level.
They called for reconciliation and realignment to achieve the desired change and cautioned against utterances and conduct that could cause a breach of the people noting that Nigeria was one big family and as such there is no victor nor vanquished.
