The Idoma Association, United States of America yesterday presented an award to Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for his dedication and service to the people of the state.
The group presented the award to the Governor during its 2016 Convention at Techniplex Conference Centre in Houston, Texas, USA.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association, Chief Cletus Agbo said Governor Ortom has shown tremendous commitment to service of the state since he assumed office.
He said Benue like many other states of the federation is passing through difficult times, yet, Governor Ortom has been able to carry out a number of projects in education, health and infrastructure.
The group congratulated the Governor and urged him to continue with the good work.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, Mr Peter Ichull, expressed the appreciation of his principal and assured the Idoma group that his administration would not relent in its resolve to serve the people selflessly.
Mr Ichull also delivered Governor Ortom’s address in which he advised Benue people living in other countries to work in unity and always remember to do things that could attract development to their home state.
He said the State Government would always be willing to collaborate with any individual or group to guarantee greater development of the state.
Governor Ortom had earlier sent the same message titled ‘Hope Inspires Change’ to the 2016 Convention of Mutual Union of Tiv in America, MUTA which took place in St. Louis, Missouri.
