The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Christmas Day acknowledged receipt of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship form submitted to it in favor of Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, the party’s gubernatorial candidate for Benue State.
The acknowledgement slip bears the following details:
“This is to acknowledge receipt of Form CF 001 from APC in favor of Ortom Samuel Ioraer for the office of Governor Benue State. Received by me at INEC Headquarters Maitama the 25th day of December, 2014. Name: Maryam I Damish. Rank: Assistant Director, Legal.”
This development repudiates and annuls the false reports sponsored by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which appeared on page five of National Mirror of 25th December, 2014 and was subsequently aired on Radio Benue and Ashiwaves news bulletins.
The acknowledgement confirms the statement of the state executive committee of the APC in Benue State that the party had submitted Chief Dr Ortom’s name to its National headquarters and INEC as its Benue State governorship.
A statement jointly signed by State Chairman, Comrade Abba Yaro, Publicity Secretary, Baba Ayemti and Organizing Secretary, Titus Zam, and made available to journalists in Makurdi disclosed that the APC national headquarters in Abuja had already formally forwaded Chief Dr Ortom’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“This is to inform all members and supporters of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Benue State that Chief Dr Samuel Ortom is the duly nominated candidate of the party for the 2015 general elections, having met all the requirements of the party,” they stated.
“His name has been formally forwarded to the INEC by the national headquarters of APC Abuja.”
According to the party chieftains it became necessary to issue the statement in order to put paid to the misinformation being circulated by certain people that the APC in Benue State has problems with the nomination process.
They appealed to supporters and the general public to work hard for the success of Chief Dr Ortom and other APC candidates in the 2015 polls.
