We read statements credited to the Public Complainants Commissioner in Benue Statelmatter hence we urge them to include him in their investigation dragnet.
The former police commissioner who appeared to be both deaf and dumb in the previous eight years of the Dr Gabriel Suswam administration never bothered to comment on similar matters throughout that period.
Nevertheless high profile murders took place in those days. These included the assasinations of Pastor Adoor of the Ministry of Land and Survey, Dr Gwa Jande, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Benue State University, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, youth leader in Ushongo local government area, Ternenge Gbuuga, alias Andoor.
As a response to the high level of insecurity in the state on assumption of office, Governor Samuel Ortom declared an amnesty program using the carrot and stick approach at his inauguration.
The retired policeman ridiculed the initiative and cast assertions on the Governor. However, at the end of the day a lot of weapons were seized and destroyed in accordance with United Nations specifications even as hundreds of youths publicly renounced crime and embraced the program.
There were allegations that the Public Complainants Commissioner was part of the program of procuring and distributing arms to youths to prosecute the 2015 elections hence his aversion to the amnesty program.
Security agents can investigate this allegation.
Right from the run up to the 2015 general elections, Alhaji Tsav has displayed public disdain for Governor Ortom and has done everything within his powers including deploying religious sentiments, campaigns of calumny and outright forgery to run down his administration.
With this magnitude of bitterness it might not be out of place that given his experience in security matters he might be privy to the assassinations of the close aides of the Governor especially the late Denen Igbana and Dr Tavershima Adyorough who come from the same geopolitical axis with him.
I therefore, call on Security operatives to investigate Alhaji Tsav for these murders hence his statement on the matter might be a ploy to divert attention from himself.
The Ortom administration has cooperated fully with the police and security agencies by not interfering in the investigation of suspects including members of the state executive council mentioned in connection with the cases.
Indeed, the Governor relieved two members of the council of their appointments so that they could face investigation.
As a person who believes in the rule of law, Governor Ortom believes that the law should be allowed to take its course unhindered.
He never imagined that the opposition might go to the extent of being responsible for the murder of his key aides until Alhaji Tsav’s recent statement gave him cause for suspicion.
