Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has received two awards in recognition of his administration’s outstanding performance in key sectors of the state economy.
The two awards were presented to the Governor today at the commencent of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
The first which is from the Environment and Safety Management Institute was presented to him by Senior Special Assistant on Public Utilities, Environment and Sanitation, Mr. Nathaniel Ikyur who represented the Governor at the award ceremony in Lafia last week.
He said according to the institute, Governor Ortom was awarded for his humanitarian gestures and efforts in keeping the state clean, among other reasons.
The second award came from Mutual Union of Tiv in the United Kingdom, MUTUK, for implementation of Sustainable Development Goals projects in the State. The award was presented by Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, Reverend Peter Ichull who represented the Governor at the event in London.
Receiving the awards, Governor Ortom expressed gratitude that the people of the state in the diaspora have acknowledged his administration’s giant strides and noted that he was encouraged by such recognition.
The Governor who dedicated the awards to God on behalf of the State Executive Council Members, stressed that they should continue to be focused and always seek divine intervention when they encounter challenges.
