Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Special Duties, Mr. Abrahams Kwaghngu has stated that no political party in the Nigerian political system will dismiss the influence of a sitting Governor leaving its fold.
Mr. Kwaghngu stated this yesterday in Makurdi in an interview with newsmen while reacting to a statement credited to the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that the Governor was no longer marketable.
He said the same APC had in a unanimous decision during its state congresses, endorsed Governor Ortom for re-election, stressing that it would would amount to speaking from both two sides of the mouth.
Kwaghngu noted that the defection of Governor Ortom from the APC into the PDP was a unanimous decision of Benue people judging by the reactions that had trailed his action.
According to him, the Governor’s kinsmen from MINDA had recently advised him to abandon the APC and seek reelection under any platform and assured him of their unalloyed support.
He noted that Benue was toeing the path of Nigerians considering what happened in Kano, National Assembly and other states of the country.
Mr. Kwaghngu stated that Governor Ortom has no issue with his brothers who are also contesting for Governor under the PDP’s platform, stressing that all of them would work together for the interest of the party.
