The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, today stressed that no amount of sacrifice was too much for proper upbringing of children.
He made the observation when the High Level, Makurdi Battalion of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria visited him at the Benue Peoples House.
“Proper child bringing means preparation for the future, development, and security of the society,” he maintained.
“As the number one father in the state and as a Christian I have a responsibility to ensure that our children are brought up in the fear of the Lord, I therefore pledge my support for you to sustain and enhance your objectives.”
Governor Ortom noted that the organization shares the same objectives with his administration and pledged to collaborate with it to deliver on set goals.
Earlier, organizer of the battalion, Mr Samuel Alyewan, had disclosed that the group had embarked on public awareness against child abuse, labor and trafficking.
He commended the governor for embarking on illegal arms recovery pointing out that it was a good effort at ensuring peace in the society.
“It is better to equip our youths with education rather than arms,” Mr Alyewan stated.
“We hinge our awareness campaign on one of the cardinal objectives of your administration – to fight the social ills in our society in order to pave way for socio-economic development of the state.”
