Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has assured a delegation from manufacturers of Sinotruck vehicles of the support of the state government in their quest to establish their factory in the state.
He gave the assurance when he met with the delegation led by chairman of the group, Mr Sunchang Ging in his office at the Benue Peoples House.
Governor Ortom stated that land was available at the Industrial Layout where he said an investor was ready to establish to establish a power plant for industrial use while water supply could be obtained from the Greater Makurdi Water Works.
He disclosed that the enabling environment created by his administration for investors included friendly tax policy and enhanced security.
Mr Jing stated that all things being equal it would take one year to establish a new factory in the state.
In another development, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, yesterday gave an award of excellence to Governor Ortom and also made him it’s grand patron.
National President of the union, Dr Najeem Usman Yasin stated that the decision was taken in recognition of the Governor’s contributions to the labour movement in general and NURTW in particular.
He lauded what he described as the milestones recorded by Governor Ortom in the provision of infrastructure, security, education and health care saying he had made the union proud.
The Governor expressed appreciation for the award saying it would spur him to do more for the people of the state.
According to him he continued to publicly acknowledge the role which the union played in raising him from humble beginnings as a mark of appreciation and encouragement to youths to make the best out of challenging situations in which they find themselves.
