Former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has solicited prayers for a successful outing.
He made the request yesterday at the synod of the NKST Church which was held at Mkar.
Chief Dr Ortom said he had consulted extensively throughout the state and received the green light to pursue his aspiration.
According to him major stakeholders had told him that they supported his aspiration on account of his God fearing nature, experience in politics, impressive record of service at all strata of government, exposure, and contributions to the development of the state.
He quoted John 3: 27 stressing that a man can receive nothing except it is given from above hence the need to offer prayers for God’s approval.
The former Minister promised that if given the mandate he would partner with the church in the efforts to deliver quality health care and education to the people of the state.
Chief Dr Ortom expressed appreciation to the church for its contributions to the spiritual well being as well as the socio-economic development of the state.
In his response, President of the synod, Rev Dr Ayohol Ate, said the church would pray that God’s will be done in the matter and appealed to politicians to play the game peacefully according to the rules.
Former synod president and board of trustee member, Rev Samuel Mbakighir, offered prayers for the aspirant.
