Governor Samuel Ortom has urged christian youths to sanctify themselves and be vessels in the Lord’s vineyard through which the message of salvation could be propagated.
He spoke today at the Chapel of Grace, Benue Peoples House Makurdi during a church service to mark the 6th edition of the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN convention.
The Governor said he was a living testimony of God’s abundant grace for those who serve Him faithfully.
He noted that he operates within the circuit of the Lord, stressing that those plotting evil against him would never succeed.
He quoted from his popular gospel song that says “we are able to go forth and take Benue State, to possess the land, though the giants are on their way to hinder, but God will surely give victory,” stressing that such a conviction had continued to strengthen him in the midst of persecutions.
While congratulating the YOWICAN for a successful convention, the Governor directed the acting Focal Person of the Social Investment Program, Mr. Terris Damsa to immediately include the 24 cooperative societies registered by YOWICAN on the Government Enterprise Empowerment Program.
He stressed the need for Nigerians particularly Benue people to sustain prayers for president Muhammadu Buhari to provide the needed leadership that could guarantee security of lives and property, economic growth and political stability in the country.
Chairman of YOWICAN, Reverend Peverga Dam assured of their readiness to advance the cause of evangelism in the state, stressing that Christian youth were solidly behind the governor in his efforts to free the state from invaders.
In a sermon, Reverend John Ornguze, who preached on the theme ‘Benue state now is a church,’ said the church would decide what happens in the 2019 general elections.
Governor Ortom took the first reading from Eclessiasticus chapter 12:1-13, while his wife, Dr. Mrs. Eunice, represented by wife of the Champlain, took the second reading.
In the church service where intercessory prayers were offered for the Governor and his family as well as peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections, Governor Samuel Ortom also presented trophy to Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN football team, winners of the 2018 edition of YOWICAN Unity Football Cup Competition.
