Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today visited the family of deceased Secretary of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, in the state, the late Torkuma Ifan, to condole with them on his demise.
He appealed to the family to look to God for consolation and for upkeep assuring that help would always come from the Almighty who he said gave and took life.
Governor Ortom described the deceased as a unique and peaceful labour leader who promoted dialogue and harmony and expressed appreciation to God for his accomplishments during his life time.
According to him, the late Ifan left a legacy of outstanding leadership and a robust family which he prayed that God would sustain.
Elder brother of the deceased, Engineer Asor Ifan, informed the Governor that the deceased conducted morning devotion for the family on December 22nd 2015, after which he complained of chest pain and his wife drove him to the Federal Medical Centre Apir where he died within one hour of admission.
The deceased, a staff of the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, is survived by his wife, three children, brothers and sisters, an aged stepmother and other dependants.
Aged 53, he will be laid to rest in his home near Ikumbur in Mbatiav, Gboko local government area on Saturday, 9th January, 2016.
