Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has announced the conferment of honorary citizenship on representatives of the consortium constructing the Cargopolis Airport in Makurdi.
He spoke at a dinner in honor of the guests at the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi.
Governor Ortom explained that their dressing in the traditional attires of the people of the State was an expression that they had become honorary citizens who must work in the best interest of the State.
“Benue is blessed in many areas including agriculture, solid minerals, culture and tourism, what you have seen at this dinner is a tip of the iceberg,” he stressed.
“The state government will support you to realize this project.”
The guests who spoke expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commitment to the completion of the project.
“You made our dreams come true as you have given us the opportunity to bring good things to your people,” Pan Riu of Sino Hydro Corporation stated.
“The reception from Benue people is exceptional…I look forward to the completion and commissioning of the project,” declared Abubakar Muhammed of Nigeria-Sao Tome Joint Development Zone Authority.
Wang of CCN stated that “we are here to develop the state and we will do our best.”
