Governor Samuel Ortom has directed the immediate reinstatement of genuine Staff whose names were mistakenly removed from State government’s payroll by the Engineer Benson Abounu salary verification committee.
Governor Ortom gave the directive while briefing Newsmen at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi on assumption of duty after an annual leave abroad.
He said the affected Staff would also be paid their salary arrears from January this year to date.
Governor Ortom maintained that other Staff in the same category were free to make their presentation to the committee,assuring them of justice.
The Governor reiterated the position of his government to pay only genuine workers and conserve the money from ghost workers to arrive at a realistic and manageable wage bill for sustained salary payment in the State.
Governor Ortom said a second phase of the verification would soon commence to enable his government look deeper to ascertain the number of Staff still shortchanging government by way of receiving multiple pay at the end of every month.
He promised to reorganise his government in the manner as to meet current challenges and expressed gratitude to everyone in the State for cooperating to achieve the milestone so far recorded by his administration.
