TRIBUNAL JUDGMENT IS VICTORY FOR BENUE – ORTOM
Leaders of various communities in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, have expressed excitement over the governorship aspiration of the Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom.They expressed the excitement at the residence of Colonel Samuel Ayoo, retired, when the Ugondo community hosted Chief Dr. Ortom, at Apir a suburb of the metropolis.Those who spoke included leaders of Ugondo, Isherev, Iharev, and Ipusu.Others were those of Idoma, Yoruba, Hausa Ibo communities as well as women and youths.
Some of the speakers said their children were direct beneficiaries of Chief Dr. Ortom’s job creation initiatives adding that if given the mandate as Governor of the state he would do more.
They stressed that his reputation as a God fearing person, an experienced grassroots politician as well as antecedents as an industrialist and philanthropist have endeared him to them.
The speakers pledged that they would support him both at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries and in the general elections.
In his remarks, Chief Dr. Ortom, who is also Supervising Aviation Minister stated that if given the mandate on PDP platform he would add value on all sectors in the state and focus on wealth and opportunities creation through industrialization in order to reduce unemployment to the barest minimum.
He said he would also explore areas where Benue State has comparative advantages such as agriculture and solid minerals exploitation and also govern with the fear of good which will usher in transparency, fairness, justice, accountability, forgiveness and reconciliation leading to unity, peace, progress and development.Earlier the host, Col. Ayoo described Chief Dr. Ortom as a humble, God-fearing, experienced and forward looking politician who has the best interest of Benue State at heart and urged the people to support him.
In his vote of thanks, Makurdi local government area PDP chairman, Mr. Terwase Aondoakaa, described Chief Dr. Ortom as a crowd puller any day because of his popularity within and outside the party on account of his positive records.
