Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, yesterday stated that his experience and that of his running mate, Engr Benson Abounu in the private sector had best positioned them to grapple with the challenges of statecraft if elected.
Chief Dr Ortom spoke when he and Engr Abounu met with leaders of social media groups at his Makurdi residence.
Mr Patrick Newman led the groups.
He stated that the current situation in the state required its leaders to think outside the box in order to be able to fashion out creative initiatives in overcoming the myriads of difficulties confronting the people of the state maintaining that their background as private sector players would enable them to lead the state out of the woods.
The former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, urged the groups to explore the opportunities which the social media provided in order to develop their skills for networking for self actualization.
He debunked reports that his emergence as governorship candidate was enmeshed in malpractice saying it was in accordance with the APC constitution and guidelines as well as the Electoral Act.
Chief Dr Ortom stated that his priorities would include job and wealth creation through industrialisation in areas where the state had comparative and competitive advantages. Mr Newman had said the groups were committed to ensuring the election of Chief Dr Ortom as the governor of the state in the forthcoming polls.
