Economic activities along Daudu-Gbajimba road have received a boost following on-going construction.
Contract for the construction of the road was awarded to Hajaig Construction Nigeria Limited, by the previous administration.
The company started work but left after a while.
When Governor Samuel Ortom assumed office he paid N500 million and they resumed work.
At the time of filing this report, the first single course surface dressing of the road has been done from Daudu to Uikpam, a distance of about 10 kilometers.
The road has been made motorable up to Gbajimba with lateriting and backfilling of culverts.
Vehicles now ply the tarred portion smoothly conveying passengers and goods from Uikpam and Daudu markets.
Traders at Daudu who spoke with newsmen, Christopher Anam and Janet Dughna said the construction of the road has brought more patronage while another resident, Prince Isaac Anche, said he was happy that Governor Ortom was matching his words with action.
A commercial motorcyclist at Uikpam, Agbamu Kwaghshir, said the construction of the road had brought relief to residents as they would no longer toil with hoes and shovels on its repair as they had previously done.
He said the road was smooth and without dust making trips pleasant and faster adding that in case of emergencies it would be easier to convey patients to hospitals in Makurdi.
According to him trucks could now convey large goods from Uikpam market to any part of the country without the fear of getting stuck in the mud before the major road at Daudu.
