Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has disclosed that there has been no proof of fraud against his administration.
He spoke at a thanksgiving service held for him at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mercyland Parish, Makurdi.
According to the Governor, the allegations of corruption being levelled against his administration came from those who looted the state’s treasury in the previous government who were out to make his era look like theirs.
Governor Ortom stated that while there was abundant documentary evidence against the looters they could never prove any fraud against him throughout his public and private service career because he never got involved in fraudulent practices.
He said he used the due process such as a judicial commission of inquiry to establish cases of graft against his immediate predecessor and 51 others while the rule of law was being followed in their investigation, arrest and prosecution.
The Governor stated that he had every cause to give thanks to God who has caused him to be successful in all areas including family, business and politics adding that he was convinced that the same God would help him to excel as Governor.
He reiterated his appeal to the people to fast and pray for divine intervention in the selection of traditional rulers including the Tor Tiv and promised not to interfere with the process adding that everything would be done to clear salary arrears owed workers before the end of the year.
Governor Ortom said the current recession was a wake up call for Nigerians to diversify the economy saying everyone must find creative ideas of wealth and opportunities creation.
In his sermon the resident pastor, Reverend Aderemi Folasayo appealed to Christians to discharge their responsibilities faithfully and also be concerned about the destiny of their people like Mordecai did in the Bible which made God to make the king to remember and reward him.
He pledged that the church would continue to pray and give wise counsel to the Governor to succeed as that would bring honor to the kingdom of God.
