Class and school mates of Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, at the Idah Secondary Commercial College Idah have said they were proud of him.
The group led by their coordinator, Mr David Anyam, made the discl…osure during a visit to the Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, at his Makurdi residence on Saturday, 26th July, 2014.
“We are proud that one of us has not disappointed us in all endeavors, ” they stressed.
They testified that they were living witnesses to his determination and hard work right from their school days when he used to resume late on account of financial challenges but always came top of the class in examinations.
The school mates said they have learnt several lessons including doggedness, respect for humanity, humility and acceptance of all categories of people from Chief Dr Ortom who aspires to be Benue State Governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“On our part we are assuring you that we will fully mobilize support for you as we too are opinion leaders as well as grassroots mobilizers, ” they stated.
Chief Dr Ortom dropped out of the school after the second year when his father was retired from the police and no one could pay his fees.
He later studied through correspondence and self sponsorship through formal schools.
