An Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Evoh Chukwu today adjourned the suit challenging the nomination of Chief Dr Samuel Ortom as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State to next Monday.
When the matter came up in court today there were heated arguments between counsel for the plaintiffs, S I Ameh, SAN, and S T Hon, SAN, on issues of discontinuance of some parties, jurisdiction, and referral to the Court of Appeal.
The presiding judge adjourned the case to next Monday, 2nd March, 2015 for ruling on the preliminary matters.
Rt. Hon Emmanuel Jime, and Senator JKN Waku were personally in court while Professor Steve Ugbah and Chief Mike Iordye as well as their counsels were conspicuously absent.
Hon, SAN, on a humorous and informal note drew the attention of the judge to a photograph published in Leadership Newspaper of Monday, 24th, February, 2015 which showed Professor Ugbah, the first plaintiff, presenting Chief Dr Ortom to his supporters as APC governorship candidate in his capacity as the Director General of the Ortom/Abounu Governorship Campaign Organization.
Apart from Justice Chukwu’s joke about the publication the Professor’s withdrawal from the case was not discussed.
