Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who clocked 55 today, has expressed appreciation to God for sparing his life and making it possible for him to attain the previous and present positions in life.
He has also thanked the people of the state for giving him the mandate to pilot their affairs on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Governor, while reacting to birthday messages of felicitations and goodwill, stated that he cherished them as an expression of solidarity and support and was encouraged to dedicate himself afresh to serving the people of the state with renewed vigour.
He said the peoples’ prayers, support, and goodwill have been a constant source of strength and encouragement to him, his government and family as they engage with the challenges of governance.
Governor Ortom stated that he was sensitive to both commendation and criticism and that both were helpful to him even as he said he would always welcome and appreciate constructive alternative opinions and ideas to do things better since no one had monopoly of knowledge.
He appealed to those not satisfied with his current performance to acknowledge the context in which he was operating and the fact that better is the end of a matter than the beginning.
The Governor urged the people of the state not to allow the current economic downturn to dampen their spirits but rather to unite with him in faith in the Almighty God that even as he won election through divine intervention, the same God would would intervene to enable the state to overcome the current challenges and achieve unprecedented development.
He said his government and family would remain forever indebted to the people for previous and the current gestures and solicited more prayers, support and collaboration to steer the ship of state.
Governor Ortom assured that he would never betray the confidence reposed in him.
May God bless the people of Benue State.
