Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today announced that College of Health Sciences of the Benue State University, has received accreditation for five years.
He made the announcement at an executive retreat held at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, in Makurdi.
According to the Governor the accreditation was the result of concerted efforts of his administration to meet requirements of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, in spite of lean resources.
The Governor expressed happiness that with the development students who had stagnated at the college for twelve years instead of six will now graduate.
He brandished a letter which Dr. A A Ibrahim, Registrar of the Council wrote to the Vice Chancellor of the University conveying the approval.Governor Ortom also directed the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology to liaise with Peace House and work out modalities for refresher courses for primary and secondary school teachers in the state.
Renowned Gboko-based Bible Teacher, Bro Gbile Akanni, Guest Speaker at the retreat had offered that his organization was prepared to organize refresher workshops for teachers in the state free of charge as contribution to its educational development.
