My attention has been drawn to the early mornng falsehood today, 12th January, 2015, being peddled by one Internet blogger on Facebook and other platforms that the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, had been replaced.
Let me inform those interested in this case that the source of the report has been a detractor who had posted previous adverse reports on the candidature of Chief Dr Ortom the most recent of which was that APC leaders had met in Lagos and ordered the conduct of free governorship primaries in Benue State.
I categorically denied her report and the non conduct of the exercise vindicated me.
He current report is as false, mischievous and at best a sponsored fabrication as all the the previous one.
The replacement is a legal issue which has been clearly spelt out in the 2010 Electoral Act.
According to the Act for Chief Dr Ortom to be replaced at this stage an order must have come from a court of competent jurisdiction to that effect, the candidate himself must have written to withdraw or has died, none of which has happened.
At the moment all the relevant authorities have certified the former Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, as the APC governorship candidate in Benue State and that fact remains intact.
The internet report should therefore be dismissed and disregarded as false, mischievous and unfounded.
Supporters have been advised to turn out in their numbers to welcome Chief Dr Ortom as he makes a triumphant entry into Makurdi the state capital tomorrow, 13th January, 2015.
Those for the event will assemble at the Agan Toll Gate to receive the former Minister and drive round the town with him before the reception that will be held for him at the IBB SQUARE in Makurdi at 12 noon tomorrow.
Members of the general public are cordially invited.
Ortom Governorship Organization.
