Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom will this weekend lead a high-powered delegation from the state to cheer Lobi Stars of Makurdi as they take on Akwa United in this year’s Federation Cup final in Lagos.
The Governor had earlier directed the payment of N26 million owed the players and donation of two buses to boost their morale ahead of the game. He assured the team that the State Government will continue to support it to record greater achievements.
Governor Ortom has urged the people of the state to support the team with prayers while those within and around Lagos should troop to the stadium in their numbers to encourage the team to return home with the trophy.
He has assured the players and management of Lobi Stars that his administration is solidly behind them to go for the trophy.
Recently, Governor Ortom hosted one of the two indegenes who were part of the victorious U-17 National Team which won the FIFA World Cup in Chile.
Master Kingsley Terfa Michael and his parents Gloria and Michael Dogo, indegenes of Gwer West Local Government Area were hosted at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
Governor Ortom pledged to jointly host Michael and the other member of the Golden Eaglets, David Enogela in Makurdi who was not present in Abuja. He has promised to will unfold a comprehensive package for the two players for making the state proud.
According to the Governor, his development blueprint has made provision for the deployment of sports as a veritable platform for the engagement and development of youths, and that he is committed to its actualisation.
