Benue State Governor-elect, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has promised that he would endeavor to disclose the exact status of the finances of the state one week after assumption of office.
He spoke when he received a delegation of stakeholders from Ushongo local government area who paid a courtesy call on him today at his Makurdi residence.
Chief Dr Ortom stated that at the moment he was not sure of the total indebtedness of the state with regard to unpaid salaries, pensions, bonds, and other debts adding that he would try to get and disclose the figures within one week in office.
He promised that the Ushongo people will get their fair share of projects and appointments in his administration on account of the individual and collective support which he received from the people of the area.
Speaking earlier, Chief Mrs Keziah Agundu, former council chairman, Chief Mike Aondoakaa, former Attorney General and Justice Minister, Chille Igbawua, former House of Representatives member, Mr Patrick Ahenjir, a veteran pharmacist, and Abraham Soo, All Progressives Congress, APC local government chairman urged him to pay salaries, provide infrastructure and give appointments to people from the area.
They urged the people of the state to exercise patience with the new administration and give it at least six months to stabilize before expecting it to begin to tackle some of the challenges.
Receiving the management of the Makurdi Zonal Network Centre, Chief Dr Ortom promised to partner with them in order to ensure the take off of the Gboko and Otukpo stations.
Zonal Director, Mr Ishaya Audu pledged to partner with the incoming administration in information dissemination and appealed to the people of the state to patronize the station as their property.
