Benue state governor-elect, Dr Samuel Ortom has asked elders do leaders of the state to join hand’s with his administration to rescue the state from collapse.
The governor-elect made this appeal today when he received in audience, elders and leaders from Benue South senatorial district led by retired Gen Geoffrey Ejiga who paid him, a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his election as governor of Benue state.
Dr Ortom told the delegation that going by the briefings he has recieved so far, the financial status of the state is in a very bad shape and this requires that everyone that means well for the development of the state must cooperate with the incoming administration to jointly rescue the state from total collapse.
According to the governor-elect, now that elections are over, partisanship should discouraged to allow for cooperation from all and sundry to put the state back on track fro the common good of the people.
Earlier in opening remarks, spokesperson of the delegation, Prof Ochapa Onazi recalled that despite the collective resolve of the elders of the state from 1999 to develop benue to meet up with others, the state has remained stagnant.
He expressed optimism that with the election of Dr Ortom and his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu whom he said are all experienced, Benue State will be better off in the near future because they are more than prepared for the task ahead.
