Friends of Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, from Oju local government area of Benue State boosted his governorship aspiration with a pledge to support him at the primaries and general elections.
The pledge came on the heels of the donation of a car by a group of volunteers from Logo local government area to his governorship organization.
Chief Dr Ortom who aspires for the position in 2015 received the two groups who visited him at his Makurdi residence.
The Oju delegation was led by Chief Ode Enyi, Vice President of the Independent Print-Media Publishers Association of Nigeria, IPPAN.
Those who spoke including Chief Enyi, George Onwe, PDP Vice Chairman in Oju local government area and Mrs Enuche Itache, former Vice Council Chairman, described the aspirant as a humble, transparent, trustworthy, and God-fearing man whose experience and development philosophy was capable of propelling Benue forward if he was given the mandate.
They pledged their support to help him actualize his dreams even as they appealed to the people of the state to give Chief Dr Ortom the mandate.
The Logo group led by Hon. Paul Nyiuma Akaabo stated that the Minister’s reputation as an experienced party and business man as well as public servant at all levels of government has inspired them to form a volunteer group in support of his aspiration.
The volunteers donated a vehicle to the aspirant and requested that it be branded for campaigns while requesting that selected members of the group be included on his entourage.
In his response Chief Dr Ortom expressed appreciation for the visit and gesture assuring that he would carry people from all parts of the state along if given the mandate.
He said he was particularly indebted to a Logo son, Governor Gabriel Suswam, for his contributions to his business and political careers and would also strive to make contributions to individual and collective development of people from the area if he had the opportunity.
The Minister stated that he would mobilize the people of the state to confront challenges of unemployment and insecurity through initiatives which shall include attraction of private sector investment in the state for industrialization which he said would create wealth and opportunities for all.
