A popular Tiv proverb states that you have to befriend a canoe man during the dry season so that he takes you across in the raining season.
This has come into play for Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom as a youth group known as Oracle Business Limited Foundation (OBLF) Scholarship Beneficiaries Support Group has pledged solidarity with his governorship aspiration.
As its name implies the group comprises all those who benefited or are still benefiting from the Oracle BLF scholarship Scheme for students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
In its maiden meeting which was held at the conference Hall of the Oracle Business Limited in Makurdi, members unanimously agreed to support Chief Dr. Ortom’s governorship ambition in 2015.
The members also listed the benefits Benue students derive from the scholarship gesture, the aspirant’s provision of employment opportunities for youths, his managerial abilities, humane disposition and God fearing nature as justification for their support.
Interim officials including Messrs Vincent Umase, president; Nathaniel Jeiyol, Secretary; Yua Korinjo, Vice President; Ugoh Nguwasen, Treasurer; Philip Iorpuu Ivokor, Financial Secretary; Nanev Iveren, Public Relations Officer and Terngu Anyor Justice, Discipline officer were elected at the inaugural meeting.
The group agreed to work towards the realization of Chief Dr. Ortom’s aspiration and to meet on a regular basis to fine tune modalities to enlighten the electorate on the Ortom Governorship Project.
