The Head, Department of Religion and Philosophy at the Benue State University, Professor Emmanuel Usue has sued for patience and understanding among the people of the state as the Ortom administration continues to make genuine efforts to address development challenges.
Professor Usue made the call as a guest speaker at the thanksgiving service in honour of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mkar, Professor Hemen Agba
He described Governor Samuel Ortom as a victim of the mess created by the previous administration which is taking a long time to be cleansed but expressed optimism that with God on the side of the Governor and his administration, the present challenges will be overcome.
Reverend Usue urged the people of the state to remain faithful and grateful to God in all situations as only the Creator could provide solutions to situations no matter how difficult the problems might be.
Addressing the congregation, Governor Ortom tasked the people to always demand accountability from the government, saying that he had advised his appointees to be prudent in the management of resources of the state as anyone found wanting in the discharge of his duties would not be shielded.
The Governor urged the people to ignore the falsehood peddled by mischief makers to discredit his administration and gave assurance that the present government would remain accountable and transparent.
The Governor who congratulated Professor Agba on his achievements as Vice Chancellor, promised that the University of Mkar would benefit from the financial grant to be accessed by government before the end of this year.
In separate goodwill messages, the Ter Buruku, Chief David Afaityo Ajoko advised appointees of government to emulate the exemplary leadership style of Governor Ortom by being selfless and prudent in financial management, while former Vice Chancellor, Benue State University, Professor David Ker noted that the sacrifices Professor Agba made would surely be rewarded.
Responding, the outgoing VC, University of Mkar, Professor Agba thanked the entire university community for the support given him and appealed that a similar gesture be extended to whoever succeeds him.
