Governor Samuel Ortom has charged intending Benue Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria.
He gave the charge today at the conference hall of Holy Ghost Parish Makurdi while addressing the intending pilgrims during an orientation course.
The Governor advised them against acts that could tarnish their image and that of the state and country at large, warning that consequences for unwholesome behaviours in the holy land were dire.
He advised them to use the period and reflect soberly on the challenges confronting the state and pray for God’s intervention while in the holy land.
According to him, despite the lean resources of the state, the need to strengthen the people in spirit and acquaint them with sites of notable happenings in the holy land as captured in the Bible prompted his administration to sponsor the intending pilgrims on the holy journey.
He advised them to pray for leaders in the country at all levels so they could take right decisions that would engender peace in the land.
In a welcome address, Executive Secretary, Benue State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Dorcas Otalu, advised the intending pilgrims to reciprocate the good gesture of Governor Ortom by being good ambassadors of the state in the holy land.
She stated that despite the challenging times, Governor Ortom had sponsored over 400 persons for this year’s holy journey and expressed optimism that they would be well behaved.
