Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday donated copies of Thompson Chain Reference Bible to rural Christian workers in the state.
Host of the Conference of Tiv Gospel Ministers, Reverend Thomas Shikaan of the Spirit Life Christian Ministries announced that the Governor procured 100 copies for the workers while introducing him at the closing session of the conference.
The event took place at the New Covenant Christian College International, Adaka, at the outskirts of Makurdi, the state capital.
Reverend Shikaan expressed the appreciation of the ministers for the gesture and stated that they were also proud to be associated with Governor Ortom for his Christian testimony.
He said the conference was organized to promote collaboration among ministers, raise spiritual and material support as well as foster mentorship between the elderly and the young.
One of the guest speakers at the occasion, Reverend Samuel Alaha, urged the workers to encourage Christians to intensify agricultural and skills acquisition activities for their economic empowerment and to boost the economy of the state.
Governor Ortom urged the congregation to take Reverend Alaha’s exhortation serious describing him as a respected man of God and prophet recalling how he anointed him as Benue State Governor in 1992 and his prophecy came to pass decades later.
He also gave a testimony of how God miraculously intervened and provided finances for one of his political rallies specifically as well as throughout the campaigns and solicited sustained prayers for divine intervention in the affairs of the state.
Governor Ortom assured that he would not compromise his Christian testimony adding that reports about fraud and corruption in his administration were fabrications of his political opponents to divert attention from the demand of the people from them to return the N107 billion loot.
He said no one could prove any of the allegations as they were not based on facts.
