Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom at the weekend solicited the support of the high echelon of society for the Makurdi Club 1930.
He spoke at the celebration of the patron’s night.
“Let me appeal to members of the state executive council, the judiciary, the legislature, top civil servants, politicians, academics, captains of industry, and military top brass to patronize Makurdi Club 1930.
He said they could do so “through membership and support for its laudable programs.”
According to the Governor, his administration was poised to partner with individuals and organizations with lofty goals such as the Club to add value to service delivery to the people of the state.
“That Makurdi Club 1930 also engages in various sports as well as corporate social responsibility to its immediate community is also heartwarming”, the Governor said.
He appreciated the efforts of all former patrons in the development of the Club and also pledged to make his own contribution for its growth and progress.
Speaking earlier, honourary President of the Club, Terhemba Chabo, a member of the State Assembly, solicited assistance for face lift of facilities and transportation.
“We desire to renovate and also upgrade all games and recreational facilities to enhance the image of the Club and attain a bigger, better and modern functional sporting facilities”, Mr. Chabo stated.
Highlights of the occasion included the decoration of the Governor in Tiv traditional attire as well as cultural performances by various cultural groups.
