Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, today extolled the professional attributes of his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase, describing him as a rare breed.
He spoke when the Mbatsen community in Konshisha local government area, kinsmen of the press scribe, paid him an appreciation visit over the appointment of Mr. Akase at the Benue Peoples House.
Governor Ortom stated that he knew the appointee through his objective reports in the media and commitment to excellence assuring that he was committed to promoting excellence instead of sycophancy and mediocrity.
According to him his elevation from Senior Special Assistant on Media to Chief Press Secretary was based on merit soon after his appointment when he discovered his potentials and capacity.
He urged the people of the state to support the promotion of excellence in all spheres of life adding that he was grateful to Konshisha people who produced an upright son who was committed to serving the state.
The Governor assured that their demands would be looked into and thanked them for training Mr. Akase to be a dedicated and honest young man.
The delegation led by the district head of Mbatsen, Chief Nder Kuhwa, appealed to the state government to prevail on the contractor handling the Ge-Ikyobo-Agbeede-Amua-Anshagba road to complete the project within the stipulated time.
Chief Kuhwa lamented the slow speed at which the contractor was carrying out the project, saying if nothing was done the road may not be completed in the nearest future.
He thanked the Governor for appointing their son, Mr. Terver Akase as his Chief Press Secretary and for giving contracts for the electrification of Anshagba to Amua and appealed that the electrification project be extended to Agbeede to boost the local economy of the people.
While commending Governor Ortom for what he described as giant strides in turning around the fortunes of primary education through the renovation of more 700 schools in the state, he expressed hope that schools in his community would also benefit from the next round of renovation.
