Elder statesmen, retired Generals Lawrence Onoja and Emmanuel Ehoda have commended Governor Samuel Ortom for addressing development challenges of the state despite the current economic situation.
The two leaders who were speaking to newsmen today at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, said only a prudent and God-fearing man like Governor Ortom could have succeeded in effectively managing the lean resources of the state at such a difficult time.
General Onoja specifically pointed out that several booby traps were deliberately laid by the previous government to make the state ungovernable for the present administration.
He commended Governor Ortom for embarking on town hall meetings to intimate the people on his stewardship and urged him to maintain the initiative.
The former military administrator of Plateau State called for patience, understanding and support to the present administration to enable it continue to serve the state.
In another remark, General Ehoda said Governor Ortom has demonstrated genuine commitment to lead and has so far done commendable things in all sectors of the economy.
He said the people ought to understand that the days when the state received huge allocations from the federation account have gone, resulting in the difficulty of salary payment and funding of projects.
The two retired generals expressed optimism that Governor Ortom would succeed and put smiles on the faces of the people.
