The Benue State Government would sustain synergy with the Nigerian police to stem the level of criminality in the state.
Governor Samuel Ortom stated this when he received the AIG Zone Four, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover and his team at the Benue People’s House, Makurdi today.
He explained that the collaboration between the government and the police is already yielding positive results as criminals were finding it difficult to live and operate in the state.
The Governor restated his call on the people not to provide any shield for wanted gangster, Mr.Terwase Akwaza, alias Ghana, who he said was responsible for all sort of crimes in the state including, murder, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
Governor Ortom enjoined the people to always abide by the rule of law, saying even as a Governor who has the privilege of immunity, he was ready to be scrutinized with regard to criminal allegations if the need arose.
He assured the zone and state command of adequate logistics support to enable them succeed in their task of protecting lives and property.
Earlier, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone Four, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover commended the commitment of Governor Ortom to the provision of security and assured that the police would fight crime in Benue State and the entire zone to a standstill.
