Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom today received the two awards recently given to him by Benue indigenes living in the United States of America.
Earlier this month, the Mutual Union of Tiv in America, MUTA, presented the award of excellence to Governor Ortom for his strides in health, education and infrastructure. The event took place in St. Louis, Missouri.
A similar award was presented to the Governor in Houston, Texas by the Idoma Association.
Representatives of the Governor at the two events in the United States, the Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Peter Ichull, All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman in the state, Comrade Abba Yaro and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Terver Akase, handed the awards to Governor Ortom during the State Executive Council meeting at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
They also conveyed to the Governor, the commendation of the two Benue groups in the US on his exemplary performance despite the difficult economic situation in the country.
Responding, Governor Ortom thanked the Tiv and Idoma associations in the US for recognizing his efforts to serve the state, saying that the awards would inspire him to do more.
He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to policies, projects and programmes that would impact on the people of the state living at home and abroad.
Members of the State Executive Council unanimously congratulated Governor Ortom over the awards and commended the US-based Benue groups for encouraging excellence.
