Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, and governorship aspirant in Benue State on PDP platform, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has assured that he was prepared to pass through the democratic process as well as to make good things happen as governor.
He spoke at the fund raising dinner which the Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Support Group organized for him at the Smile View Hotel, Makurdi, last Saturday.
The Minister maintained that his experience in life had made him rugged enough to win the primaries and the general election as well as provide results oriented leadership if given the mandate.
The aspirant stressed that he had been among the poor masses, the middle class, and the top most echelon of society pointing out that the experience had given him the capacity to carry all the segments along.
He expressed appreciation to the alumni for organizing the event to support his aspiration saying the initiative was a confirmation of the assurance God gave him that He would raise human and material support for the governorship project which he described as a divine assignment.
Chief Dr Ortom quoted various verses from the Bible to underscore the fact that power belonged to God who gave it to whosoever He wanted and maintained that he been assured of success in the race.
The Minister prayed that God would fulfill His promise of replenishing what those who made contributions had given abundantly saying they had planted on fertile soil.
He said he sought to be Governor so that he could use the formula God gave him as reflected in his life to defeat poverty, ignorance, and disease for the people of the state.
President of the Support Group, Mr Justin Damsa, had stated that the alumni organized the dinner as a demonstration of its commitment to and confidence in the project and quoted Proverbs 29 verse two which states that when the righteous are in authority the people rejoice.
An undisclosed amount was realized at the event.
