
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Dr George Akume, has assured the people of Benue State that God would wipe away their tears through good governance that would be provided by Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He spoke at Aliade, Gwer local government area, during a rally to flag off the APC campaigns in the Benue North West senatorial district popularly called Zone A.
Senator Akume who raised a popular Christian song which stressed that the Lord always comforts his people said Chief Dr Ortom and his running mate, Engr Benson Abounu, were adequately prepared to confront the current challenges of the state.
The legislator reiterated at the APC rally in Makurdi that the former Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, would deploy the experience he acquired in politics and public service from the local, state, and national levels particularly at the two ministries where he served to bear on governance in the state for the good of the people.
He said salaries and pensions would be paid on time while all the tertiary institutions in the stated that had been shut would be reopened.
Senator Akume who is also recontesting his Senate seat appealed to the people of the state to feel the pulse of the people across the country who have indicated overwhelming desire for change and tag along.
According to him the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was declining to an end following mass exodus among its ranks and the determination of Nigerians to end it’s rule at the forthcoming elections.
He listed the provision of water, information and communication technology, skills acquisition centers undergoing completion as some of the projects he had attracted to his constituency.
Former permanent secretary and APC governorship aspirant, Chief Akange Audu, announced his support for Chief Dr Ortom and the donation of all his offices, vehicles and structures to him.
APC governorship candidate, Chief Dr Ortom pledged to carry the ordinary people along if given the mandate because he rose from humble beginnings and was acquainted with their challenges and had the formula to confront them.
Thousands of PDP supporters decamped from the party into the APC at both rallies.
