Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Benue State, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom attended a debate organized by Tivnet. During the debate, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate was conspicuously absent.
Chief Dr Ortom asked the people to give him the mandate on account of his experience in politics, governance at all levels as well as the private sector where his outfits have provided over 400 jobs.
He pledged to do more as Governor.
He further promised to seek partners and investors and woo same into the Benue State University to enable it expand and excel. He said he would encourage the institution to establish centres from which it could generate wealth. Chief Dr Ortom stated however that his administration would welcome advice on the vital issue.
He listed the provision of good governance, security of lives and property, wealth and job creation as well as free primary and secondary education as his topmost priorities.
Answering a question on the challenges of pension’s management, Chief Dr Ortom attributed the non-payment of pensions to corruption and said he would tackle the challenge by curbing the menace and keeping an eagle eye on the management of the funds.
Chief Dr. Ortom was finally awarded a certificate of participation at the end of the debate.
