Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, has warned members of the public against patronizing any Facebook user who claims to be carrying out financial transactions on his behalf.
A statement signed by Media Adviser, Ortom Governorship Organization, Mr. Tahav Agerzua, disclosed that Chief Dr Ortom who does not transact financial matters on social media platforms particularly Facebook has not authorized any person to do so on his behalf.
The statement advised members of the public to disregard anyone who requests that certain amounts be deposited in the bank for the processing of higher amounts of money for them adding that those were the antics of fraudsters.
In another development, Chief Dr Ortom, who is a governorship aspirant in Benue State in 2015 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, condemned the recent attack on the advance party of another aspirant as reported in the media.
Chief Dr Ortom said having emerged from the recent Fulani attacks which he described as very painful the people of the state cannot afford another circle of violence.
He appealed to supporters of the various parties to promote peaceful consultations and subsequent campaigns in the spirit of democracy which permits freedom of association and choice.
The Minister described fellow aspirants as worthy sons and daughters of the state whose aspiration was legitimate adding that they should be allowed to freely canvass the support of the electorate throughout the state without any hindrance so that the people would be in a position to make an informed choice.
Chief Dr Ortom who noted that although tolerance was a basic Democratic tenet also urged the entourage of aspirants to also respect the sensibilities of other supporters and avoid deliberate provocative acts.
According to him power ultimately belongs to God who crowns through the people and that at the end of the day only one person would be Governor.
He charged his supporters not to resort to violence under any circumstances and to not to destroy the campaign materials of any other aspirant.
