Benue State governor- elect, Chief Dr Ortom, has disclosed that his administration shall punish corrupt government officials as one of the measures to curb corruption in the state.
He spoke during a church service at NKST Yima in Makurdi metropolis.
Chief Dr Ortom said one of the ways to conserve scarce resources to be able to confront financial challenges would be to tackle corruption headlong in consonance with the principles of the Buhari administration at the federal level.
The former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, said at the personal level he had forgiven those who offended him during the campaigns but that he would allow the law to take its course for those who offended against the state.
He stated that he derived the spiritual powers that saw him through from prayers of the Chrisrian community irrespective of denomination hence the need for him to return to God for thanksgiving and appreciation.
Chief Dr Ortom said his emergence as governor has convinced unbelievers of the existence and power of God and strengthened the faith of believers who saw divine power in operation in his favor during the election.
According to him his administration would create a conducive environment for the private sector to thrive and appealed to those with creative and viable business ideas to bring them forward for sponsorship.
