“You can see all my people are here. They’ve been yearning for a change, Nigerians are yearning for a change and my own people are yearning for a change, so why should I be an exception? PDP as you know, as it is, is a dying party. It’s monstrous; it’s eating up itself, its own best brains. You can look around the state from Senator Gemade to Ortom; it’s eating up its best. It’s been a catalogue of lies and failed promises to the Benue people; I don’t want to be part of those lies and failure any more. I have a mission in politics and I think I should canvass it where I have a better and brighter field. By the time we win this election we shall no longer be in opposition, but you can say I’m progressive at mind and I don’t want retrogressive tendencies.”
…James Ochojila, Benue State House of Assembly member for Ohimini constituency, yesterday at a ceremony in Idekpa, where he and hundreds dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Two days to the 2015 Presidential Elections, a serving member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Ohimini constituency in the Benue South Senatorial District, Mr. James Ochojila, dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr. Ochojila, a lawyer, took along hundreds of his supporters stating that the PDP was no longer a viable platform for him to canvass his mission in politics.
“I have a mission in politics and I think I should canvass it where I have a better and brighter field,” he stated.
“PDP as you know, as it is, is a dying party. It’s monstrous; it’s eating up itself, its own best brains.”
The APC governorship candidate of the party in the state, Chief Dr Samuel Ortom, represented by his running mate, Engr. Benson Abounu, described Mr. Ochojila as a wise politician who has made an accurate assessment of the political situation in the country.
According to him the people were fed up with untold hardship in the country where nothing was working while the nonpayment of salaries and pensions had compounded the situation resulting in a determination to vote out the ruling party.
Chief Dr Ortom pledged that the incoming APC administration at the state and federal levels would implement its manifesto which has made provision for the security of lives and property as well as job and wealth creation for the people.
State party chairman, Comrade Abba Yaro, assured the new members that they had the same rights and privileges with those who had been members of the party and urged them to work for the victory of the APC at the polls.
Candidates of the party for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, Nelson Alapa, and Musa Alechenu, all pledged to work hard for the success of the party at the forthcoming polls.
