A Pentecostal preacher, Rev. Dr Samuel Alaha, who predicted that Governor Samuel Ortom would govern Benue State 23 years ago, today again prophesied that the state would enjoy an unprecedented boom during his administration.
Rev. Dr. Alaha, Founder of Faithway Chapel, Jos spoke at the concluding service of a three-day Praise Festival organized by The Brethren, a group of Christian believers who used to worship together in Gboko, Benue State, in the late seventies and early eighties.
He stated that Governor Ortom had been anointed to fulfill ministries similar to those of Noah and David.
According to the cleric God commissioned Noah to save his people from their toil while God empowered David to recover family members and property taken captive by the enemy adding that Governor Ortom would accomplish similar missions for the people of the state.
Rev. Dr. Alaha recalled that just as God told him that Ortom would be Governor in 1992 and it came to pass his predictions that the fortunes of the state would improve underthat him would also come to pass.
Earlier, Governor Ortom listed the relative peace in the state which he attributed to the introduction of his amnesty program, accreditation of the College of Health Sciences at the Benue State University and the graduation of its first set of Medical Doctors as some of his achievements in the last six months.
Others, he said, include the resumption of water supply in Otukpo and Katsina-Ala, on-going renovation of facilities at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi, as well as Daudu-Gbajimba road, implementation of minimum wage to primary school teachers, and payment of full salaries up to September 2015.
Governor Ortom said his administration also obtained a loan ofN28 billion to clear salary arrears adding that he would convene a stakeholders meeting early this year to take decisions on the challenge of salary payment.
He lamented the campaign of accusations and non-performance being peddled against his administration and described such as the handiwork of the opposition, assuring that just as he emerged Governor in the midst of challenges he was determined to deliver on his mandate.
Several musical artistes including New Jerusalem, Obadiah Orkar, Ann Mker, Blessing Ikyaan, and Simon Orkucha ministered at the occasion.
