Individuals and groups across Benue State have made contributions, ranging from donation of vehicles, publicity materials, volunteer services and offices, towards the realization of the governorship aspiration of Chief Dr Samuel Ortom on PDP platform.
The donors listed several reasons including the credibility of the aspirant, his experience and exposure in politics and public service from the local to the national level, God fearing nature, as well as contributions to the development of the state through the Oracle conglomerate and its foundation as justification for their support.
One of such groups, the Kwande Central Youths, said it analyzed all aspirants in the race and chose the former Minister of State, Industry, Trade, and Investment, on account of his industrious nature which has generated hundreds of jobs for people within and outside Benue State.
Leader and spokesman of the group, Mr Alexander Anendah, explained that the youths in Kwande local government area decided to build and donate the best campaign office in the state to the aspirant as a mark of their commitment and dedication to the governorship project.
“Chief Dr Ortom rose from humble beginnings in the motor park and is therefore acquainted with the suffering of the ordinary people,” he stated.
“He is an experienced grassroots politician who keeps old friends and will not forget us when he becomes Governor.”
According to Mr Anendah the records have shown that Chief Dr Ortom fears God to the extent that he could donate all his property for His work.
He stressed that what endeared him to them most about his aspiration was the prospect that he would industrialize the state and reduce unemployment.
The former Minister inaugurated the office which is located opposite St Andrews Secondary School, Adikpo, and allocated it immediately to the Kwande local government coordinator, Mr Ligom Abeda, who has since taken possession by operating from there.
